Musa ‘Ouro

Fruit Banana, Dessert Banana, Golden Banana, Sugar Banana

One 7 to 10 feet tall Brazilian cultivar of the section Musa, it is triploid and belongs to the group AA, forms small fingerlong fruits with sugarsweet taste, which is seedless although the cultivar is diploid. It is grown of all in the state São Paulo and other Southern Brazilian regions, but not obtained export importance.

This cultivar is resistant against Panama Disease.

Until now it is not introducted as plant to Europe and Germany. The cultivation might be like the closely related cultivar Musa ‚Nanica' or 'Dwarf Cavendish’, also the hibernation, it could be grown as a pot plant or wintergarden plant in Germany and Europe.

Since 16th September 2009 I have this cultivar in my yard. Best thanks to Helton Josué and his wife.
